Estate claims that a failure to diagnose led to death of man

Even if the technical aspects of an operation are done correctly, a patient may still encounter health issues afterward. Post-surgical care is essential in order to ensure that an Oregon resident will enjoy a smooth and full recovery. The failure to diagnose a problem after a surgical procedure could lead to complications that could cause permanent injuries or even death.

On June 28, 2015, an out-of-state family lost one of its members after he underwent an unidentified surgical procedure. At some point after the surgery, the man had a stroke, which is what the personal representative of his estate claims caused his death. In a lawsuit that was recently filed by the estate, it is alleged that the medical staff attending to him failed to notice that he was exhibiting signs of a stroke.

The lawsuit, which was filed in the Cook County Circuit Court against several medical professionals and facilities, alleges that no one took the time to assess the man's overall condition, and that is why they failed to notice his symptoms. The suit goes on to claim that because of this lack of attention to his condition, he did not receive potentially life-saving treatment for the stroke. If the evidence the personal representative provides the court establishes the veracity of these claims, damages could be awarded.

Under comparable circumstances, an Oregon resident might also receive damages for the loss of a loved one after a failure to diagnose led to death. Every day, millions of people across the country put their lives into the hands of medical personnel. When they makes mistakes, the lives of the victims and their families could be changed forever. Those medical professionals need to be held responsible for their actions in order to help ensure that no other families are forced to endure similar tragedies.
